Flanker Definition Sweatshirt
Every team has one, and they all know exactly who they are: first to the breakdown, last to back down. This jumper spells out the flanker job description in a way that needs no explaining to anyone who has played in the back row.

The flanker is the player who does the unglamorous work that wins matches: the hits nobody sees, the turnovers that swing a game, the tackle count that runs into the forties. This jumper reads that role back as a list of traits, confidence, intelligence, ambition, speed, the lot, and any number seven or six who pulls it on knows it is describing them. It is worn by the openside who lives at the breakdown and the blindside who hits rucks like a freight train, the sort who treats eighty minutes of graft as the best part of the week. Made from thick 280gsm cotton-rich fabric with a soft cotton face, it is built for the cold touchline and the long Saturday that follows, warm enough to wear over training kit and tough enough to survive being slung in a kit bag.
It is the kind of jumper a back-row forward actually reaches for, on the way to the ground, on the sofa watching the internationals, or in the clubhouse long after the floodlights go off. We call all of these jumpers, by the way, never sweatshirts, because that is what the rugby crowd calls them.
The design plays on the dictionary-definition format, but instead of a dry entry it lists the qualities every good flanker carries onto the pitch. It works because it is half boast and half in-joke: outsiders read a list of words, the back row reads a mirror. There is real pride in it too. Flankers rarely get the headlines that the fly-half or the winger gets, so a jumper that quietly states what the job demands feels earned rather than flash. We kept the styling restrained so the words carry the weight, and it sits naturally alongside the rest of our rugby sweatshirts built for players who take the game seriously. The 280gsm weight matters here, because a back-row jumper has to handle being worn hard and washed often without thinning out or losing its shape at the cuffs.
A jumper aimed at flankers has to feel as solid as the player wearing it, and this one does. No flimsy fabric, no print that peels after three washes, just a heavy, warm jumper with a clean design that says exactly what it means. Our jumpers carry 1,800+ verified reviews from buyers who come back for the weight and the fit, and the generous cut suits a forward's frame rather than pinching across the shoulders. Wear it to training on a frosty evening and the right teammates will clock the definition straight away, because every one of them has spent a season being exactly the player it describes.
What is this rugby sweatshirt made from and how is it printed?
This rugby sweatshirt is made from thick 280gsm fabric, 80% ringspun cotton and 20% polyester, with a soft cotton-faced inside. The flanker definition design is printed to a high standard so it stays crisp and readable through repeated washing, never cracking or fading on the warm cotton face.
How does the sizing fit on this jumper?
The jumper has a generous fit that suits a forward's build, so it sits roomy across the chest and shoulders rather than tight. Sizing is true to the size chart, so order your normal size for a comfortable layer you can wear over training kit on a cold touchline.
How quickly does it ship and can the flanker design be personalised?
Orders are printed within 1 to 2 production days and shipped on a 1 to 3 day UK service. The flanker definition is a set design and cannot be personalised, which keeps the price fair and gets your jumper printed and out the door faster.
Who is the flanker definition jumper best for?
It is best for the openside or blindside flanker who does the hard yards at the breakdown and quietly knows their worth. It makes a spot-on gift for a back-row teammate, a rugby-playing partner, or any forward who lives for the tackle count and the turnover.
