Evolution of the lineout. We have come a long way. This design charts the set piece from its rough-and-ready beginnings to the lifted, drilled precision of the modern game, and it speaks to the fan who loves the history and the craft in equal measure. It is for the rugby thinker who can talk for an hour about jumping pods and dummy movements and genuinely enjoys the way the game keeps refining itself. Printed on a thick 280gsm cotton-faced body, it keeps its shape and its detail through a full winter of matchdays and clubhouse debates. The soft-faced fabric is warm as toast for a cold afternoon on the side, comfortable enough to wear while you explain the offside line to anyone who will listen. It is a sweatshirt for the proper student of the game, the one who appreciates the lineout as the intricate art it has become.
The humour is gentle and knowing rather than laugh-out-loud, which suits a design aimed at the thoughtful fan. Laying out the lineout's journey as an evolution is a wink at how far the set piece has travelled, from a messy scramble to a rehearsed routine. It flatters the wearer as someone who understands the game beyond the scoreline, who values the technical detail most casual watchers miss. There is real affection for the sport in it, a nod to the endless tinkering that makes rugby so absorbing to follow. The high-definition print keeps every stage of the design crisp wash after wash, so the little history lesson stays sharp for many seasons. It is the sort of piece a fellow rugby nerd spots, points at, and immediately wants to debate with you at the bar.
A sweatshirt built for the thinking fan still has to be warm and comfortable, and this one delivers. It suits the supporter heading to the clubhouse for the match, where the lineout debate is never far away. The generous cut sits well over a base layer, and the thick 280gsm body holds its shape through a season of heavy wear. It comes in black, red, navy and charcoal, so there is a version for every wardrobe. Made in the UK and backed by 1,800+ verified reviews, it becomes the go-to layer for the fan who loves the detail of the game. Buy it for the rugby brain in your life who over-analyses every set piece, or browse more in the same knowing spirit across our funny rugby gifts.
What is this sweatshirt made from and how is it printed?
This evolution of the lineout sweatshirt is a thick 280gsm body in 80% ringspun cotton and 20% polyester with a soft cotton-faced inside. The design is applied with a high-definition print that stays crisp and fade-resistant, so every stage of the lineout stays clear season after season.
How does the sweatshirt fit and what size should I choose?
